Paleis Het Loo Paleis het Loo is situated in the woods near Apeldoorn in the heart of the Netherlands. It was the favorite summer residence of the Dutch viceregal and royal family's from 1686 until 1975. National Park De Hoge Veluwe National Park De Hoge Veluwe is one of the oldest and largest national parks in the Netherlands. You will find no less than 5,500 hectare of woods, heathland, pools and drift sand. Together with the Kröller-Müller Museum and the sculpture garden, it forms a unique combination between nature, art and architecture. The Hoge Veluwe has a lot to offer to its visitors where nature is concerned. In addition to calm and space, the landscape is unique and diverse. Vast (heath) plains are followed by magnificent woods, ridges, pools and hills. About half of the Hoge Veluwe is made up of woodlands, the other half consists of open areas. Kröller-Müller Museum The Kröller Müller Museum is world famous for its large collection of paintings by Vincent van Gogh; there is a beautiful overview of his works. You can also admire the impressive works by George Seurat, Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger, Piet Mondriaan and many other great names.
Jachtslot St. Hubertus The St. Hubertus hunt lodge is the former residence of the Kröller-Müller family. This impressive hunt lodge was designed in 1914 by H.P. Berlage. Mr. Kröller was an avid hunter. The hunt lodge is based on the legend of St. Hubertus, the patron saint of hunters. Legend has it that Hubertus (665), a lawless and frivolous hunter, encountered a deer during one of his many hunting parties, wearing a shining cross in its antlers. He was so impressed that he reverted to Christianity, and then made it to Bishop. Eventually, Hubertus was canonised. Not only the stained-glass windows in the hall visualise this legend. The two wings of the building and the large tower do so to they symbolise the antlers and the shining cross of the deer. Apenheul Numerous species, from the giant gorilla to the smallest monkey in the .world, each live in their own spacious wooded areas. A large number of monkeys even climbs and clambers freely among the visitors. Burgers’ Zoo In this zoo you can travel the world in one day.
Burgers' Animal park takes up around 18 hectare of the entire park and contains over 3,000 animals. Where the keeping of animals is concerned, Burgers' has developed its own philosophy. The concepts of 'behaviour', 'space' and 'natural' are key words in this line of thinking. Among the inhabitants of the animal park are all 3 species of apes, smaller monkeys, bongos, elephants, meerkats, sea lions, penguins, predators, cattle and an extensive collection of birds.
Burgers’ Safari: In 1968, Burgers' has a first on the mainland: a lion park. One year after the opening, the lion park is expanded with a large number of hoofed animals and birds and Burgers' introduces the name 'Safari park'. A walking route including a 250-metre long covered wooden footbridge, provides visitors with the possibility to enjoy a magnificent panorama calmly from a 'continuous' observation point.
Burgers’ Bush: In 1988, a new milestone is realised in the history of Burgers' Zo a real jungle! A gigantic hall of 1.5 hectare provides Burgers' with the opportunity to keep and present tropical animals and plants in a new way. Since 1988, a spectacular tropical rainforest has been developing there. On narrow paths and exciting suspension bridges, the visitor is led through the dark rainforest.
Burgers' Desert displays a landscape, which provides a true to nature impression of the North-American subtropical Sonora desert. For more information, please visit: www.julianatoren.nl Golf & Business Club de Scherpenbergh At no more than a twenty minute drive from Apeldoorn you will find De Scherpenbergh in a beautiful landscape, surrounded by the Veluwe Central Massif. During construction of the course, optimum use was made of the present nature. Sloping hills and magnificent woodlands and challenging water features complete the setting. De Scherpenbergh is a full 9-hole course (PAR 72), under the conditions that the NGF poses on the A-status. The course has a varied nature with a right variation in the degree of difficulty.
